'Why Everyone Gains From Women's Equality'

This paper outlines the findings of a study carried out in New Brunswick which was designed to measure effects on the public treasury of removing wage discrimination against women.  Quantitative estimates were used to gauge the potential effects of eliminating gender income gaps on government tax revenue, health care costs, and government transfers  to individuals and families. The study found that personal income tax revenues would increase by about 11% (federal and provincial income taxes combined), and that modest savings in annual health care costs and a small saving in government transfer payments made to individuals could also be expected.
